Had to happen!
Today has been quite busy, GWSDE Management Board Meeting this morning, and the final planning preparation for the public engagement group.
After lunch Beau and I were sitting quietly when a pigeon flew into the lounge window. Made us both jump and Beau communicated his annoyance to said pigeon!
Then set of to The Ardagh Community Centre and I knew roughly where to go,. Then when I spotted it I had almost gone past it, stopped and then was about to turn into the entrance, and then as it didn’t have a dropped kerb I wasn’t sure if it was pedestrians only. In that split second of distraction, exacerbated by having jeggings under my bike trousers which restricted my movement (I only knew that once I had set off), I kind of forgot/didn’t get my feet down and ended up ‘falling off’. I felt my jacket armour protect my elbow. A lady walking past stopped and then a man stopped and helped me lift the bike and wheel it into the car park. I didn’t realise until just after that I’d put my hand down too as that is sore. I was more annoyed that my clutch lever is bent! I am told it is one of those things that inevitably happens and I remember Dave the Book saying it had happened to him twice, and once was a similar low/zero speed fall.
The meeting was really good. The lady at the Community Centre organises lots of events, and on Saturday 20th we are going to be hosting a session on dementia diagnosis and research. It should be a good event.
Ironically on the way back I felt less afraid as I think it had been in the back of my mind not to fall off, and on the way back it wasn’t in my thoughts as much. I was thinking about Mr T and how he just got up and back on the (push) bike. As I said to Jo, the clothing might be expensive but it’s expensive for a reason. It was less of an impact that falling over Beau last year as it didn’t set off the hard fall alert on my watch.
