Sixties decor, former cafeteria of “Der Spiegel”

In this Cafeteria of the then freshly opened Spiegel editors house I got a student job, one of my first. Oh I remember the excitement as the day of yesterday but it was more the fear, whether I would do ok as a waitress in this place as the excitement over the architectural boldness of the decor.

I found the picture on Facebook posted by a friend . I then learned that the editor house has long since moved to a new house and one of the Hamburg Museums has dismantled the whole room and rebuild it in the museum. It was the “cat’s pajamas” at the time. We all had brown furniture in our rooms, orange lamps and eyes surrounded by dark mascara like Twiggy.
Those were the days, my friend…
