Surprise visitor to the Inverness Campus upper lochan, normally found along the shores of the nearby Moray Firth, rather than on freshwater. A male log-tailed duck. He was spotted and reported by someone at work after they saw him yesterday. What's more surprising is that most of the water on the lochans is frozen over, unlike the sea, of course.
A montage of heavily cropped snaps, as I wasn't expect to see him, so didn't have an ideal lens. Hope he's still there tomorrow when I do take a better lens.
(Bigger version's better.)
