President Davis Ave

I spotted this street sign today in Kure Beach while driving along Fort Fisher Blvd.  It is the main thoroughfare that travels south from Carolina Beach to the end of the island.

Obviously, someone in Kure Beach didn't get the memo.  Jefferson Davis was booted from office in 1865 after the south lost the war between the states.  He was imprisoned for 4 years for being part of the insurrection.
