Hidden gem....

.....nestled amongst beech forest with views of mountains is this little tarn, not seen from the main road but less than a 5 min walk, certainly worth a stop if passing through Lewis Pass.

In scorching heat, 33.5C, we ambled along the 20 min nature walk, surprisingly or not it took us an hour....oops, someone had the camera in hand haha. But, I discovered pink and purple sun swamp orchids, tiny little blooms scattered alongside the path, I was most excited. Also loved the lichen hanging from the branches of the beech trees, like shaggy beards. I haven't looked at my camera shots, will add as extra's at a later date.
