Treaty dispute
The English version of the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi was defaced in the national museum, Te Papa recently. The remaining text mocks the Crown… and perhaps shows how premeditated it was. The museum has left the exhibit up, to acknowledge ongoing debate about the translation… the Te Reo (Maori ) version hangs on the opposite wall. Lots of summer visitors around.
