Redcastle

Another nice day although it did could over for a while just as we went out, typical.
However we were lucky that the clouds and rain showers past when we reached Redcastle so went for a walk up to the castle itself.
What a difference from the last time we were there. The fence protecting the castle from people getting too close has been removed. The trees and other plants growing over it have been removed and metal doors and frames have been put in. You can now see inside, fascinating. I’m not sure what the plan is but hopefully to continue to maintain what’s left.
As we approached we spooked a woodcock that flew up in front of us.The farmer was there moving some hay down to his belted Galloways in an area below the castle. This has also changed dramatically and has now been cleared. Some of the larger trees remained and a few new ones planted. It has opened up the view across the Beauly Firth.
