Just over a century
I'm blaming LadyFindhorn and her comment that "a young stalwart like you can easily freewheel down from Aviemore in a day." It sewed a seed. From Newtonmore it was just over 100 miles home and last week the 50 miles from St Andrews had only taken four hours. Surely, all going well ... and the forecast for Saturday was pretty poor. If you could avoid cycling in the pissing rain, you would.
So we did. Without doing anything mad and pushing hard, we found ourselves in Blair Atholl at lunchtime and Dunkeld at 2.30pm. Dunkeld was about 50 miles from Newtonmore and left just over 50 to get home. If we kept going we'd being Kinross about 6.30pm and only an hour from home. So we kept going.
107 miles in just over 8 hours. The long descent from here certainly helped. The wind in your face, not so much.
