Breakers at Nybster

After an exhausting day yesterday, it was very tempting to have a long lie-in, but the forecast was for sun and not a lot of wind.  So BIL and I determined to have an early lunch then go for a drive.  As he's not been this far north before, I decided a tour around some well-known spots and some of DH's favourite places would be a good idea.
Our first stop was at Nybster, where this was taken.  We walked out to the broch and back again.  Then Duncansby Head - where the car park was NOT full - to view the views and take in the stacks from a distance.  Then on to John o'Groats (also not busy), and finally out to Dunnet Head.  By this time some showers had started to drift south, and there were rainbows every now and again over Orkney.  From Dunnet, we came back via Castletown, getting home just around sunset.
