Lady’s Tower
The tower was built in 1770 for Lady Janet Anstruther. It is said that Janet used the Tower as a viewpoint where she could sit and watch the world go by and recover from her bathing. She was the daughter of a wealthy Scottish merchant and was renowned for her beauty and reputation as a flirt. Prior to bathing she sent out one of her servants into the town of Elie to ring a bell to let the residents know to stay away.
Rather chilly this afternoon but with some bright sunshine we were encouraged to venture over to the lighthouse and the Tower. We tried to coincide our walk when the sun was just beginning to disappear. Some wonderful waves spotted through the stone archways.
