'Hatch'

This is the skeleton of the ship's dog, nicknamed 'Hatch' found on the Mary Rose. He is on display at the new Mary Rose exhibition in Portsmouth.
Apparently the dog was male, 1-2 years old and a whippet/terrier type. He must have done a good job at keeping the rats in check because there were only 2 or 3 rat skeletons found on the wreck. However this could mean that the rats were good swimmers and jumped ship as it went down.
There are all sorts of 'Hatch' souvenirs for sale in the gift shop.

The museum is excellent and well worth a visit.
