Middle Leigh Farm

I seemed to have welcomed in a cold with the New Year and woke up feeling decidedly de-energised this morning but it seemed a shame not to make the most of the first blue sky day in what seems like ages so, when Tess got back from Keep Fat, we had a stroll the long way round to get the paper.

Our route took us past this farm which is actually not much more than 400 yards from the High Street and dates from the days when Street was just a series of small settlements separated by countryside. It wasn’t until the mid 18th Century when Clarks’ began to build housing for their shoe workers that the various settlements became joined up into the large village it is today.

It was lovely to see some sunshine, especially on an otherwise sad day when we heard that the husband of someone we have become friendly with through Park Run lost his brave battle against cancer last night.
