For the family

A mixed day

The morning involved an awakening of very old memories from the early 1970’s. We have Royal Doulton porcelain which only gets used at Christmas and New Year, and for special occasions. Very much treasured as it was a present from the drs and nurses on my ward when we got married and added to over the years. After using it yesterday I carefully put it away in the sideboard today. A peaceful pleasant session.

This afternoon we headed to the Royal Derby Hospital for an appointment for B. We set off early as the appointment letter advised us to allow an hour to find a parking space and get to the clinic. It was a first visit there and quite a challenging site.

We were in a queue for No1 car park, next to the Out Patient Department, but B was impatient and wanted to see if the next queue was shorter. Not a good move …….we ended up in car park 6 on the other side of the site with a one way road system. We had to walk round to the main entrance in the lashing rain and got to clinic 30 mins later, very wet.

The appointment went well and B’s on the list for surgery soon. We will know where we are going next time we visit and will certainly be in the queue for car park 1 whatever the number of cars are ahead of us.

On the way out we passed some pictures in the corridor. This one that I’ve blipped caught my attention and had an air of tranquility. Just what was needed to calm me down for the journey home in the lashing rain and very wet roads.
