It is Friday!
The great news last night is that Ted is out of hospital and recovering. He has been to Burgundy's but did not feel up to a night of full blooded jazz!
Last night it was the talented Allan Beecham Quartet featuring Alan himself on keyboards/vocals, the awesome Mo Witham on guitar, and the rich sounds of Roy Cansdale on bass and finally coming to the fore last night was John Powney on drums.
I had made a concious decision to feature John (on the right) so it was a case of how the rest of the group/composition would work. I had gone for a very bold face so had to reposition some of his drums!
And to also feature the bass player - Roy - bass players like drummers are very much in the background. It meant that Alan got squeezed in the middle and a late decision to feature Mo on the left hand. This is all I could see as the rest of him was behind the pillar1.
A gathering of the core jazz followers and good ale as usual made it another great night and of course I won a raffle prize again - it was the hard choice between bird seed and a jazz CD - yes it was the jazz CD!
And we had the lovely Carol with us promoting her international Dodo exhibition at Kendal Museum on the 4 July - tickets still available for the champagne launch
