Happy birthday kiddo!

one more kid birthday. and this time, it was a colleague's daughter's first birthday. First birthdays in this city is a big deal - I mean, really BIG! People spend ridiculously on first birthdays of their kids. I remember a first birthday party that I attended last year. That family was quite affluent and was living in one of the upscale areas of the city. They had booked a clubhouse for the party, hundreds of guests, multi-course meal, magic shows, games, return gifts et al. The irony of it was that the kid was too young and confused to appreciate any of this. I was as confused as the kid, looking at the magnitude of arrangement.

Today's was a timid affair with a close group of friends and family.
