NZ Spring 2024

By AndrewNZ

Busy in the Bay.

Tasman Bay is often used by shipping as a safe harbour if the conditions out on the Tasman Sea are a rough so that is what I thought when this lot turned up but I maybe wrong.

From right to left, a couple are too small to show up though, this what's there: -
Go Sirius - An ocean going tug 3500 tons and 75 metres.
Xiang Yun Kou - A heavy lift vessel 48200 tons and 216 metres x 43 metres.
Hinewai - A harbour tug, no weight but just 25 metres long.
Valaris 107 - Drilling rig platform 10,000 tons and 73 metres x 63 metres.
Skandi Emerald - Another ocean going tug of 3000 tons and 75 metres.
Nelson Harbourmaster - Having been out there all day carrying out the role of Law enforcement.

I now believe that the Xiang Yun Kou being a heady lift ship will take Valaris 107onboard by submerging its deck so Valaris can be floated on.

I wish they were closer!

A warm day with streaks of white on a blue sky but still a chill in the breeze.
