Love Blippin’ Books for January
January Prompt: Something new!
January Tag: LBB13
How to take part: Choose a book/s for the monthly prompt, share a few thoughts about it and tag it #LBB13. The tag remains active beyond the end of the month, so don’t worry about not finishing (or starting) your book on time. Previous prompts, LBB1 to LBB12, are still there to contribute to if you fancy them. Any books are fine: fiction or non fiction, adult or children’s, printed or audio…
Love Blippin’ Books was founded by @squatbetty a year ago to celebrate books and an enthusiasm for reading, and we are carrying it on into 2024. For January we are focussing on the “New” of New Year, and invite you to join in by reading and sharing something in response to that prompt. For example:
- a new book that you were recently gifted;
- a book by an author that’s new to you (but it could be a very old book);
- a start of a new series;
- a book with ‘New’ in the title;
- something from the “new acquisitions” shelves of your local library;
- a newly released book, hot off the press;
- or any other take on ‘new’ that you can think of.
We look forward to seeing what you come up with.

For our New Year’s Day walk, 16yo, 19yo and I headed down to Roberts Park and along the river to Hirst Mill. As can be seen, the River Aire is very full, and the weir more or less submerged. We called in at Higher Ground Café for some extra sustenance and then back home. For 16yo and I that’s our time off finished, back to school for her and back to work for me in the morning. 19yo is still benefitting from more relaxed university term times.
I tried this image in mono, but I found I quite liked the gloomy, washed out palette of a late afternoon in midwinter.
Happy New Year everyone, and happy reading!
