Sparrowhawk #1

An exciting start to the birding year with this beautiful sparrowhawk landing on the garden fence within seconds of me opening the curtains.
After dropping Mum back home, we made the most of the morning sunshine and went for a short walk at Spike Island. A few more species to add to the start of a new year list including Ruddy Shelduck, Common Sandpiper and our second sparrowhawk of the day! Last year it was 30th January before we saw one.  
Off to Mum's soon for the traditional New Year's Day family roast and board game fest, so I probably won't be commenting today.
