city scape
Had lunch with some friends from Namibian days and then on a sparkling winter's afternoon drove home via King's Park.
What a view hey??
That big stretch of blue (apart from the sky!) is the Swan River and the park sits atop Mount Eliza.
The area, now parkland, was known by the Nyoongar people as Kaara Gar-up and a place of ceremony and shelter, food gathering and hunting, tool making and teaching.
In 1831, following British settlement of the Swan Colony, part of the area was 'set side' for public use and in 1872 gazetted as Park Land.
Now there are beautiful gardens, walkways and guides who pass on their knowledge of all things botanical and a walk designed to educate about Aboriginal history, bush tucker and the six seasons recognised in this area.
A gorgeous place with great views, coffee shops and posh nosh and acres in which to walk, picnic and take a little time out.
