Last Train

In more ways than one.

The final train of 2023 arrives at Abergynolwyn this afternoon.  All three trains today were well loaded with happy passengers and uniquely, both locos were crewed by different Father and Son teams.   Gareth, driving No 2 Dolgoch, pictured here, has been volunteering on the Talyllyn for 55 years, latterly as an engine driver.  Today, having reached a milestone birthday this year, he is having his final rostered driving turn.  A gaggle of family and friends travelled on the train and a cake was cut in the tea break.

A work day for me.   A quiet night in although I will show my face for half an hour at Wharf station this evening where there's a party organised for railway folk to see the new year in.  I'm working at 9 tomorrow morning and will not be out, away from Meg at firework time as she really doesn't like them.
