In a Prince's Footsteps

There is a very fine exhibition of Francis Bedford photographs at the Queens Gallery at Holyrood Palace. It documents the 1862 Tour of the Middle East with the 21 year old Prince of Wales, later to become Edward VII. John McCarthy provided input into the audio guide and later revisited some of the shots for a Radio IV programme which was broadcast last month.

Yesterday we attended an excellent talk given by Mr McCarthy which was extremely well informed and demonstrated his passion for the region.

I would have liked to provide blippers with a photograph of John delivering his talk in Holyrood Palace however I was told to put my camera away as there was an official photographer - whatever!

The exhibition is on until late July in Edinburgh before moving to Buckingham Palace in the autumn - highly recommended.
