Happy New Year!

There's drama in the sky this afternoon
to close the year,
a bit of blue, a touch of white, but mostly
boiling grey, a blur
of violence with an edge of hope,
that optimistic blue.
Oh, may our skies be calm and bright
to welcome in The New.
