Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

Handwritten Letter

While doing some filing of paperwork this morning, I found this wonderful letter from George, our friend who died from cancer two years ago this past April . I wish I had thought to put a date on the letter when he gave it to me--I think it was from early 2007.

Few people write me letters, and almost never do any of us receive something handwritten. This is a treasure. He mentioned in this letter that he didn't write it in an email because he didn't want it to go around the globe, but I think it's okay now to put it here. He was such an amazing example as he walked through the first few months and years of missing his wife Pam after she had died from cancer and gone to Heaven. For a man who was just a deep "feeler" he did a marvelous job of "thinking" his way through those lonely moments and months and poured himself into music; music that touched his soul and it also touched the souls of all of his friends who had the privilege of listening.

Thank you, George, for being such an encourager to me. I grew-up in a neighborhood of all boys, so "guys" were always my best friends and the people I am usually most comfortable with -- you certainly rank in that category. You were comfortable to be with, you were a friend. Mr. Fun & I miss you more than we can even express!

Until we get there too, we'll just keep celebrating you and missing you.
Love & hugs
