No Fog
……………………………on the Tyne this morning but it was pretty dreich!
L and I were sharing a room so enjoyed a bit of a lie in this morning…E had left about 8.30. It was raining by the time we checked out of the hotel and headed on foot to the station. We detoured by the Quayside so I could get some pictures: Main blip shows the Tyne, the Swing, the High Level and the Queen Elizabeth bridges. See 2nd extra for the downstream view of theTyne and Millenium bridges with the Sage building on the right. No delays with the train so I was home, unpacked and drinking tea by 2pm after a fab 24 hours with two great friends.
Yesterdays train journey wasn’t quite so smooth with signalling problems enroute. L was supposed to get on the same train as me but was herded onto the train ahead and my train ended up about half an hour late which didn’t give us much time to get to our hotel, find somewhere to eat and get to City Hall for about 5.30pm. As it was raining we jumped into a taxi at the station and it was £10 well spent to stay dry! We had a meal at Weatherspoons on the Quayside before a wet walk up to town. It was very busy but our food came quickly and the drink was cheap! Prices at the City Hall were astronomical, we drank free tap water most of the night…which was probably much better for us. The evening consisted of 6 bands playing tributes to INXS, Alannis, The Who, Foo Fighters, Fleetwood Mac and Queen…they were all very good and we ended up on our feet dancing for nearly 6 hours. We stayed in town for a sit down and a drink before walking back to the hotel, thankfully it was dry by this time. (First extra: the three amigas find themselves in the red light district!) A very quiet night in is being held this evening!
