I walked the dogs in the morning before doing some shopping. After lunch, we exchanged some Christmas presents and I read the introduction to my present, James O’Brien’s new book “How they broke Britain. “ It promises to be an incisive critical analysis of the political, wealth and media relationships that have influenced a decline in Britain’s prosperity and international reputation over the last 13 years. In the afternoon, I went out for a walk at the appropriately named Surfleet Seas End. The place is in fact a few miles from the Wash but it is the point at which the rivers and drains empty through the sluice gates into the channel that leads to the sea. The outflow was running very strongly.
