Terror Under Bark

I don't mind helping with the wood chop but my biggest fear is an encounter with one of these. I'm always wary. They hide under the bark and due to my caution I spotted this monster in time.
I don't much enjoy photographing them either and this blip was mostly loaded with my eyes averted.

Helen, Omar and the twins left today. The weather is pleasantly and unseasonably cool, in the low 20s, so we took the opportunity to cut up a tree which had fallen, as usual across a fence.
