Friendship

The rains have stopped but it is still dreary out. I’m thinking a bright sunny day will be a Godsend. And we may actually get a glimpse of Mr. Sun tomorrow. I am definitely feeling better and very tempted to get up and get busy. Talking and walking make the cough a lot worse so I plan to take it slow and let my old body really heal. This is the perfect week in the entire year to be ill - our calendar is empty. So, again, I am blessed. Speaking of blessings, our German friends have been quite anxious for us to open their gift box. Thinking my contagious period should be behind me, hubby and I opened their lovely and thoughtful gifts. Hubby simply loves pocket candy and I guess it is only available around Christmas. He has often tried to find it on line but with no luck. We did not see it when we went on the pilgrimage in Germany last year either. Our Oberammergau angel will be treasured for sure. It’s not really the actual “stuff” that warms our heart as much as the love and thought that went in to purchasing and sending the gifts. Marion considers us family, that is the specialness. Hubby actually ventured out to the grocery store today. We were out of the essentials, bread, milk, yogurt. Otherwise, he has read, waited on me and the kitty. In my COVID haze, I made a dumb mistake yesterday and had I had a clear mind, I would have known better. Being bored, I opened Facebook and browsed folks’ Christmas posts. There was a clearance sale ad from Bath and Body Works and I took complete advantage of it, ordering nice items for Easter baskets. Later in the evening, I thought about that order and checked for current scams. Sure enough, some scum bag now has my $45! We locked my bank card and I will get a new one when I go out next time. My own fault, I know better but those scammers are clever. The on line ordering pages look just like legit ones I had used before. Beware friends! I slept a lot today. Will get back to your journals soon. My sister is still feeling pretty rough. All the others who were here on Christmas Eve have escaped it so far. Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe. “Every gift from a friend is a wish for your happiness.” - Richard Bach
