Hop Trefoil - Trifolium campestre

This is a type of clover that bears a superficial resemblance to small hop flowers, hence its common name.

This was growing on a former railway track now reclaimed as a footpath.

Where it goes through a cutting, the SW facing bank gets the full sun and is where I found yesterday's blue butterfly. There were more there today (4) along with a small copper and a green-veined white.

Rather than post another butterfly, I went for a wild flower instead - one of the ones often overlooked by walkers because they won't get down low amongst the thistles and ants.
