An Epic Journey
We left Edinburgh this morning for our return to Aberdeen. Not one of the best days to travel with Storm Gerritt accompanying us all the way.
This photo is taken just after Dundee. The road was flooded in many places as we made our way north, but this was possibly the most dramatic.
The police directed us into the outside lane, but just past here the whole road was flooded. A field was disgorging water and mud into the road. The road surface felt very uncertain under the car. Well it did not feel like a road.
Shortly after we passed the road was closed, and we read later that the road had collapsed.
The wind was blowing across the road and spray from vehicles heading south submerged the car as a waves soared over us, making us briefly completely blind.
We were lucky to make it through to Aberdeen, I think it was shortly after we passed the road was closed.
Not a journey to be repeated. I thought it was bad enough on Saturday when we went south to Edinburgh, today was much worse.
