Hoxa Colours
Travelled down to Hoxa today.
Had lunch in the Hoxa Tearoom and then stopped at the Hoxa Tapestry Gallery.
The tapestries are breathtaking with thought provoking images.
From there we made the short journey to the picturesque village of St.Margaret's Hope to visit the Workshop and Loft Gallery which specialises in beautiful hand knitted items and local crafts. It's run as a craft producer's co-operative and I treated myself to a lovely colourful pair of hand knitted socks produced by our fellow blipper Poppy :-)
Stopped off at Kirkwall and had a wander through the shops.
Beachcomber treated me to a lovely silk scarf designed and made by his cousin's (who we visited yesterday) granddaughter . The design is based on the collection of James Sinclair an eminent botanist and curator of the Singapore Herbarium and a relation of Beachcomber and his cousin :-)
A visit to St. Magnus Cathedral concluded our visit to Kirkwall.
On the way back to Stromness we took a detour to Tingwall and the very lovely Betty's Reading Room. Which is a very special place.
Weather has again been very kind to us :-)
My shot today is of a ruined croft near Hoxa with a view over Scapa Flow :-)
