State Historical Museum, Red Square

This is the State Historical Museum at one end of Red Square. THis shot is taken from Manege Square and Red Square is just behind the museum. The photo of Red Square I blipped the other day was taken the other side of this building.

The museum was founded in 1872 and has an incredible collection of more than 4 million objects. Just over 20,000 of them are on permanent display showing Russian history through the ages.

To the left you can see the gateway through to Red Square.
