The wettest Christmas Day ever!!!
My human is 64 years old and she can't remember a Christmas Day, wetter than this one.............
I only went for a little 'toileting' walk around the field, first thing, because I always get a big, long walk on Christmas Day. OMG! After 10 mins we were soaked through to our skins. I had to be dried thoroughly and Ann had to take off all of her clothes. Yep, we know. Far too much information.
Ann made herself a massive fry up for her Christmas Day breakfast – eggs, sausage, bacon, beans, mushroom, fried bread – and she didn't share. It's the first Christmas that she has spent 'home alone' since 1994. Obviously she is not home alone, because she has me.
At about 10am we set off on my big long Christmas Day walk. We walked for 2 hours (5.5 miles) in mizzle, drizzle and rain. But just look who I met down on the beach................. My two little Collie friends............ Emma with the wheels (she has probs with her back legs) and my other little Collie friend (but I can't remember what her name is). We had a lovely time running around together.
Got home about midday. Ann wouldn't let me into the house until she'd dried me. And then she had to strip off and put on other clothes. I know, I know, that is far too much information.
I got taken out again at 4.30pm for 'toileting purposes' and we both got soaked again. We have clothes and dog towels drying all over the house. Our house is like a Chinese laundry?!! Actually, we have no idea what a Chinese laundry is like? It's just what people say isn't it?
Soooooo................ here we are................. 5.30pm on Christmas Day............... The turkey is in the oven (though Ann is still full from her big breakfast). She says we'll eat it at about 6.30pm and then we will slob around watching, Christmas Night TV – Coronation Street, Call the Midwife, and EastEnders..........................
Loads of friends have said to us, 'Do you really want to spend Christmas Day by yourself?'....................
Actually........................ yes we do. We've had a lovely day together. It's one day out of the whole of our life. My human isn't religious and let's face it; that's what Christmas is really about. We've got loads of friends that we can spend the rest of the year with, and Ann hasn't got much family, but she has got two very lovely sisters, who would be there for her in a crisis.
What more could anyone wish for.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. Xxxx
PS – It's still raining.
