Hearts breaking

I made this photo on Friday morning from the streetcar before dawn. I was on the way to help a friend.

Later in the day, the 19-year-old grandson of some close friends killed himself. 

Sue and I have been sitting Shiva with the family every night since then, and I have made no new photos since Friday. 

This loss in addition to the many losses in Palestine (if you've lost track, Ingunn in Oslo has summarized it), Sudan, Darfur, Yemen....

Peace on earth seems a faraway dream.

We need the company and reassurance of good people. May we find each other, ally with each other, and hold onto each other so that through kindness we may come to a better time.
