Closing down; the shop window.

Est: 1879-2023. J&G Innes will shut its doors for good on Hogmanay, having been run by the same family in St Andrews since 1879. They’d some interesting displays in their windows today.

It’s the end of an era. One of many articles published is here https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cyx2dnn10gdo

I can remember going here as a wee boy to get my Summer Special comics, and subsequently newspapers in later life, (although never now), including the St Andrews Citizen. We’ve also bought books for all ages over the years and stationery articles, cards and more. Only recently I was looking at specialist art materials. They’ve had many famous visitors pass through, served with no fuss. And as a former newspaper office handled the huge and small international, national and very local stories. We’ve also bought limited edition prints from the shop; they commissioned local artists. I’m looking at a framed print now as I write this.

It was a dreich day.
