Not Good Enough

I’ve never been able to make a decent sponge cake but my mother always declared my efforts “good enough for a trifle”.
Well I excelled myself this year when my attempt (on the left) failed even that criteria. I had to start again, this time with a different recipe and double checked none of the ingredients were out of date.
It’s still barely “good enough”, but with a decent slosh of sherry and homemade custard it will do.
Definitely worth tagging for Silly Saturday.

We started the move to the valley where we are with Graham and family. Will stay in Blackheath tomorrow night and then come back down after Christmas lunch for a few days.
We had to bring a mattress down on the back of the ute. It started to rain just as we arrived and we managed to get it off before a very heavy deluge totally saturated it. See extra.
