Winter Solstice

It seems that the Winter Solstice falls on my birthday this year.  

I am "reliably" informed that the solstice will begin at 4:44pm GMT on 22 December, when the Earth is at its maximum tilt, 23.5 degrees, away from the sun.

So enjoy those crepuscular rays - they’ve come about as far as they can for this part of the world at this time of the year.
