High Perch

Surprised to spot this Red-tailed hawk on our morning walk. RTHs are larger than their more numerous (here at least) Red-shouldered hawks. According to Merlin Bird ID, 'Eastern RTHs have 'pale underparts' with an obvious band of dark marks across the belly' and 'immatures do not have a red tail'. Was hoping that I'd get a shot of this beauty on the wing but she seemed comfortable where she was and wasn't eager to brave the large murder of crows noisily flying through the neighborhood.
