Day 169 of 365 - The Abbey Gatehouse!
Welcome to day 169 of 365 (Finished image after Editing)
The original photo was taken early this evening in the Kenilworth. The image is of the ruins of an old Gatehouse that would have served as one of the entrances to the long gone Abbey of St Mary. The Abbey would have originally dated back to about the 12th Century (about the same time that Kenilworth Castle was built). It is were the poor people of the area would have been given food and drink. The ruins of the Gatehouse stand in the grounds of St Nicholas Church. The church was built sometime in the 13th century (but that will be a picture for another day).
As always the shot was taken with my iPhone 5. The photo was taken using the camera App Huemore for iPhone. The original image can be found here: Unedited original Image.
First of all I used the app Handy Photo to edit the image. The edits were made by cloning away the Keep Off sign from the small window. Next I used an app called Photo Copier to apply a reproduction of the tone, texture, grain and detail of the artist Van Gogh's painting called - Starry Night. After that I used ShockMyPic on the image to help make the picture look a little more painterly. I then used Mextures to apply some lighting and textures to the image. The preset that I applied was called Subtle Sunset by Neal Dieker. I then used PhotoToaster to add the Stacked frame. Finally I used Distressed FX to add some extra texture to the image using the Stirred overlay and the Lade Texture.
