An ordinary life....

If at first you don't succeed...

I had a very lazy day conserving my energy for our night out with friends Keith and Mairi.

We were supposed to go out for dinner with them a week past on Saturday but poor Mairi was ill so we rescheduled to today (although D and I still went on the original date and called it an early birthday dinner for D!  :-))

They arrived bang on time at 6.45pm and we headed to the restaurant so we could have an aperitif in the lovely bar before dinner.

As we entered the bar we saw our friends T&V who were also there for dinner.  Chatted to them for a little while then made our way to another corner of the bar, leaving them to their romantic night out.

Keith and Mairi have heard lots of good things about the restaurant and were really keen to experience the welcome and the food, and neither were a disappointment.

We had such a lovely evening and the food was amazing.  The place is close enough to walk to from ours so we were all able to have a drink.

This is the last time we will see them till March as they fly off to New Zealand on Boxing Day for a two month holiday exploring the north and south islands, before then flying to Perth in Australia to spend a month with Keith's sister Jude.  D is distraught at losing his main golfing buddy for so long!  :-))

They are looking forward to it but just wishing the journey was over as they were told yesterday all their flights had changed and to make the necessary connections they have to fly a day earlier than planned.  Apparently the travel agent knew about this in October but only informed them yesterday!  Anyhoo it's all sorted so fingers crossed it goes according to plan.

But what's more alarming in my eyes is they are having their Christmas Day dinner at their favourite Indian restaurant.  This seemed a good idea when they weren't travelling till 27th December, but now a Christmas curry then off on a VERY long haul flight the next day!  I wished them luck! :-))
