Today I went back to Barts to hear how my follow-up scan went. Thankfully all is well. The previous fuzziness has cleared up. Back to the regular scan in another three months and then six months after that.

While I was there I learned that the head of the oncology clinic has been named by Nature magazine’s global list as one of ‘the 10 people who shaped science in 2023’. The article is about Professor Powles’ work to improve the treatment of advanced bladder cancer. The type of cancer I have or had is more normally found in the bladder rather than the kidney. If it ever comes back, I’m profoundly grateful to be cared for by his team.

PS Here’s the prescription he wrote for me after my surgery.
