ATTINGHAM AT CHRISTMAS

We've spent a lovely day with friends at Attingham Park, National Trust property near Shrewsbury, having a tour round the Mansion which is, once again, showing off its fabulous themed Christmas Trees in every room.  My blip is of the Grand Staircase, Illusions of Grandeur:  This theatrical drum staircase is all about skilful visual trickery.   It was created as an ingenious solution to replace a larger set of stairs when Nash was commissioned to install the picture gallery in the centre of the house.   Its compact horseshoe design and domed skylight conjure up an artificial  sense of space  and its glittering  gilded balustrade and intricate inlaid banisters add a touch of glamour and decadence.  The lower walls are painted to mimic polished stone, while the upper section imitates the lavish folds of fabric in a 'tented' ceiling, an influence from the Ottoman Empire.

Two many favourites to choose but I've added a few Extras:

1.  The tree in the entrance hall.
2.  The Drawing Room .
3.   The Boudoir.
4.   The Sultana Room.
5.  The Housekeeper's room.

Sorry I've been away from Blip for so long.  As you know the beginning of the year didn't start off at all well for me health wise but I'm definitely doing so much better now so plan to get back to doing a lot more of the things I love in 2024.  In the meantime I wish all my dear Blip friends a very, very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.

Best Wishes and love from HareBrain and Mr HB too xx
