Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 294
Porty Beach is a perpetual source of surprise. This evening a flotilla of colourfully sailed dinghies bobbed on the gentle breeze. Beach volleyball practice was in full swing. (There was a very serious tournament with four courts on the beach last Saturday.) A couple of midweek boot camp groups, kayakers, tripod sea anglers, cyclists and joggers added to the busy scene. Many evening strollers, people watchers, beach bars drinkers and fish and chip consumers added lashings of pictorial salt and sauce to this quintessential seaside scene.
On my early morning run I found a message in a bottle sitting conveniently on one of the groynes. The message is repeated below. Its author will no doubt be having a wee chuckle at the reaction of its readers. This type of activity is another reason why I love living here!
Dear Recipient,
The year is 2090. The dumps have taken my holographic memory card and left me with no option but to seek help through the medium of script. DO NOT LET THE PANDAS IN EDINBURGH ZOO MATE BECAUSE THEIR OFFSPRING WILL CAUSE THE END OF THE WORLD .
