light night
We had a good night with Josie again last night, she didn't wake till 8. 15 this morning. She's always been a good sleeper and often has a two hour nap in the afternoon when she's at home, or here, as opposed to nursery where she doesn't sleep. Thank you so much too, for the hearts you gave her the other day by the way, I'd give her hearts every day!
We have been so lucky, in amongst all these days of high winds and rain storms and freezing temperatures, the night I booked six weeks ago, to go to the Botanics lights event, was 12° and dry. I think this is our fourth or fifth visit, Katy's birthday is this week and her choice each year has been to go as a family. This was the only night since the event started and until Christmas that they were both off and so we have been free to go.
I was thrilled that Eilidh, who is 10 next week was happy to hold my hand several times as we wandered around. I wonder how many years that will continue. Maybe I could tell her she could pretend she was supporting her elderly grandmother if anyone noticed.
There were some lovely new exhibits this year, the dragonflies on the pond - if you zoom in on you can see that the resident moorhens are sitting on top of them!
The dandelion clocks, the pampas grass, the rainbow hedge - lots of colour and special effects.
We managed to get away with only buying and toasting one marshmallow between the two girls this year as we were going to Cafe Andaluz afterwards. The new branch in Stockbridge was very nice .
Extra of Eilidh and Isobel and a random man in a red suit who they said didn't sound at all like the real Santa! I'm inclined to agree with them. I don't envy their parents trying to get them off to bed tonight!
