In the Wild…….

Manuka, aka Leptospermum scoparium. Or else “New Zealand Tea Tree”. This Manuka is growing amongst the native plantings along parts of the Taylor River bank. It is flowering in many parts of Marlborough at present and its nectar produces Manuka Honey. The individual flowers are tiny and it is a wonder to me just how bees can access the pollen. A neighbour has a large Manuka tree growing on my western boundary . Its branches are hanging over my wood shed. The neighbours have two urban bee hives . I hope their bees will produce some Manuka honey.
