One Street - Castles and Roses

Spent another lovely day doing guided tours at Speke Hall. Stopped on One Street at Moore village on the way home. This boat is heading for the festival at Lymm which starts tomorrow. The gentleman on board told me that he and his wife have spent the last two and a half years living on their boat. This is the first time that they have been on the Bridgewater canal.

Traditional canal art is based on the themes of castles and roses though no one knows why canal people chose these themes. The first evidence of canal people painting castles and roses on their property is from the middle of the nineteenth century.
