The Kelpies and an unexpected event

Last walk of the year with Glasgow Ramblers along the Forth and Clyde canal to the Kelpies, and onwards back to Falkirk via Callendar Park. Incredible gusts of wind that appeared out of nowhere but dry most of day. An extension at the end because one rambler hadn’t realised it was not a circular walk so she and I added on another 3 miles back to the train station car park in Camelon. Just missed a train so to avoid the rain I spent nearly an hour in Aldi, their liquorice allsorts are not bad.

And then a very dramatic evening. The washing machine caught fire mid cycle as I was eating my supper. Two fire engines and rather a lot of firefighters appeared from Pollok Fire Station in jig time. They dealt with it very graciously and it’s now sitting in the communal bin area, extra. I will arrange its uplift as soon as I have sorted things out with my insurance provider.

As part of the aftercare service I had to answer rather a lot of fire safety questions. Apparently making toast at night does not count as cooking after 9pm.
