Gobsmacked
The expression on Mary's face says it all really. The contractors have done a simply amazing job on our Servants' Quarters. Every crack has been filled in with heritage lime mortar, and we are now awaiting complete dryness before the walls are whitewashed. That's a bit of a challenge, seeing that it is still unseasonably cold, and damp.
But gosh, it's going to look good, for a least a little while.
The building was erected without foundations, so the idea is that the government is looking at underpinning - which will cost squillions. Basically it dates from 1843-ish which makes it one of the oldest buildings in colonial South Australia.
