Preparations for a Winter Coorie

What does a winter corrie mean to you?  Originally an old Scottish word meaning cosy, nestle snuggle , it has taken on a broader meaning in our Age of Wellness. It’s similar to Danish  hygge , to get comfortable, warm in a social gathering.

A group of us from various communities around Stirling and the Trossachs were interviewed by artist Saffy Setohy and the result turned into an audio installation performed this afternoon in St Andrews church, Callendar.
(It’s part of a national project Remembering Together organised by Greenspace Scotland .)

In the wake of the Covid pandemic people were asked what they wanted, and it soon became clear it was an opportunity for folk to meet up again socially and share experiences.

Afterwards, over hot chocolate and home-made biscuits we agree we had enjoyed a winter coorie afternoon.

Later the event was streamed on Instagram .
