WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

A Day Out…

…all by myself.
Some Blippers will know where this is.
When I woke up this morning I thought ‘I’ll get the train to Saltaire!’
I invited Frank but he has a lot on just now with his recordings.
I was happy to go on my own anyway as I could take my time browsing in Salts Mill. I spent ages there looking at the art works and art books and other arty stuff then went upstairs to the book department.
David Hockney exhibits his art at the mill, I love his work.
I also saw a book on Norman Cornish’s work, He was a coal miner in the North East and a prolific artist of life in the mining towns. His work really appeals to me as he draws and paints people in their day to day life.
I may choose him to research for my art group project.

I started to get a bit peckish and had a wander up to the top of Saltaire and found a nice little cafe for lunch - falafel and hummus panini - then had a look in some of the wee shops. On the way back to Salts Mill I got caught in heavy rain but soon dried off when I got back there and went to the outdoor clothing department. I didn’t buy anything but I was looking at waterproof trousers.

I  got the train home just after 4pm and after being cold most of the day I am now sitting by a cosy fire.

On the way there and back the fields were really deeply flooded
