Wind-fall

The wind was absolutely howling when I went to bed last night, and it howled all night.  I woke around 7.00 to still more howling so went back to sleep thinking there was no way we'd be going for a bike ride in such conditions.  Woke again at 9.00 to..........virtually nothing!  Half an hour to get ready until the others came round.  

Lovely ride, a bit of a breeze but really very mild compared to overnight.  Wouldn't you just believe it.....by 2.00pm the howling wind was back!  I thought we did well to sneak our ride into the only calm time the day seems to have had. News tonight reinforced our good fortune - over in the Hutt Valley they had a small but very intense tornado with a good dumping of hail for good measure.  The only thing I found on the ground at home was tree litter and heaps of these plums from the neighbours tree.  That's a lot of fruit the local bird population is now going to miss out on......  :(
